Graduated from UW-Stout in 1974 and worked for Control Data for three years. Moved to South Florida working for Harris Computer Systems (they are now Concurrent Corp) as a Diagnostic Engineer, Software Instructor, OS System Engineer. Didn't have to shovel the rain anymore. Had fun with Hurricane Andrew when it blew through town.
Moved to Orlando in 1998 to work on Modeling and Simulation Training systems for military contractors. I am living about a mile from University of Central Florida (as the turkey buzzard flies), the largest college in the US so traffic is fun when school is in session. This is all on the other side of Orlando from Mickey Mouse, Universal, Sea World, and all that other stuff you visit when you are on vacation. Had more fun when Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jean blew through in 2004.
I have returned to Minnesota a couple time each year to visit my mother and check up on her well being. In January of 2012 she suffered a stroke and needed to be cared for at Woodbury Health Care nursing home. I would travel to Minnesota every two to three months to see her until she passed in October, 2013. I got to see how much everything changed over that time, I hardly know the place when I am there. But my wife makes sure we visit MoA!
Did you ever think we would see all of the technology, political polarity, social upheaval, and price of oil change so much in all this time?
