Comments:

I worked at 3M (in the Medical, Dental, & in Pharmaceuticals) until March 2007 - when our division was sold and I technically retired. Since April 2007 I have worked at Dyne Technologies in Woodbury. With orthopedic surgery again, I have retired - until I see the outcome of this recovery. If any of you have generously supported my business, Minnesota Territory, thank you. It has been necessary to take a leave-of-absence, due to physical limitations. So for the first time since 1967, I am not working. The most difficult part of this leave-of-absence has been in not visiting with my clients (my family members and I design, create, and publish historic images as fine art prints, postcards, maps, magnets - and books/booklets) around Minnesota at museum shops, gift & specialty stores, State park gift shops, and bookstores. I have enjoyed this venture.

I also am an historical researcher, author, and presenter (at conferences, symposiums, classes) -with a focus on mid-19th century Minnesota & Dakota Indian history. Published: The Dakota Indian Internment Camp at Fort Snelling, 1862-1864, contributed to Trail of Tears, plus a few other articles -- including one for a new journal starting in January 2010. ** Update on new journal: Friends that I work with researching & writing (most met through the Mn Historical Society) - 19th-Century Researchers - have started a new Mn history magazine called "Minnesota's Heritage". The first issue was published January 2010 (published Jan & July) - my article was "Alexander Ramsey's Words of War"

The remainder of my time is spent with my adult children, choir & church activities, and homekeeping projects at my home in Cottage Grove near Grey Cloud Island. Life has been good, with laughter, happiness, and a few tears -- but enjoyed with no regrets.

School Story:

Good memories of neighborhood friends - Judy Schnebelen, Lynn Sax, Charlotte Fillbrandt, and Kathy Schlenner - and the good neighbors living around us who alway seemed to be looking out for everyone.

Memories of good and capable teachers - Miss Klein, Mr. Joy, Mr. Gustafson, Mr. Grifffin, and Miss Ganzhorn -- plus so many others. Hoping they are all well.

I attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, married, and then went to 916/NE Technical - now part of Century College - completed an internship at 3M-Pharmacy R&D - and was hired. After my husband died I stopped work on my MBA - but then began writing and publishing - and then founded my delightful business, Minnesota Territory.

Picture day, a very exciting day. Everything is different. The gym is now transformed into a studio. Kids act like grown ups. They address each other politely, they sit still, they laugh at the jokes the photographer tells them. And the stage curtain never looked better. (Mrs. Jensen's 5th Grade Class,
Carver Elementary, Maplewood, MN 1961-62)

family. Thinking back to those very happy days
and which we enjoy now - and which will continue
to be ours, in the future!
