Steven Wanless

June 6, 1951 - December 13, 2018

Steven “Steve” Ray Wanless age 67, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Amery Hospital.

Steven was born on June 6, 1951 to Raymond and Florence (Kohler) Wanless in St. Paul, Minnesota and later graduated from North St. Paul High School in North St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduation he entered the Army Reserves where he was later honorably discharged. He was raised a strong Catholic until he was introduced to Pastor Brandt who taught him about Christianity. Steve accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior which began his long, faithful dedication to the Amery Free Lutheran Church.

In his free time he loved to go fishing, traveling, putzin’ around the house, 4 wheeling, playing cribbage, RC hobbiest, building and racing model cars, boats and planes. He loved his home on the lake and sailing his catamaran but most of all he loved his children and grandchildren and 45 plus years of spontaneous adventures with his best friend, Les.

Steve is survived by his children, Stephanie Stern (Scott), Ben (Alicia) Wanless, Matthew (Pam) Wanless; Mary Wanless, John Wanless and Joshua Wanless; his grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Tom, Austin, Beau, Matt, Alexa, Alec, Bailey, Kaitlyn, Aiden and Maddy; siblings, Laurie (Jim) Dietz, Jim (Beth) Wanless, Dave (Dawn) Wanless and Michael Wanless as well as many other, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Florence and a son, Caleb Wanless.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Amery Free Lutheran Church with Pastor Eric Christensen officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 – 1 PM on Thursday at the Church prior to the service. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
