Bruce Nordquist VIEW PROFILE

February 16, 1951 - July 26, 2015

Bruce Roger Nordquist of Oakland, Florida died on July 26th. He was born February 26, 1951 in St.Paul, Minnesota to Roger & Patricia Nordquist. He grew up in North St. Paul playing baseball in the Legion League and went on to play at North Saint Paul High School. He was honored as an All-Star in both leagues. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota to continue his studies and play on the U. of M. "gopher" baseball team. On June 17, 1972, he married his girlfriend of 2 years, Nancy Barnes. His senior year as a gopher the team won the Big 10 and went on to play in the College World Series. He graduated in 1973 with a physical education degree. On June 4, 1974, Bruce and Nancy welcomed a healthy baby boy, Bradley Bruce Nordquist. Three years later on April 17, 1977, they welcomed a healthy baby girl, Amy Elizabeth Nordquist. In 1979, Bruce and Nancy moved from Oakdale, Minnesota to Ocoee, Florida. While living in Ocoee, Bruce spent many years coaching Pop Warner Football and Little League Baseball. He became the supervisor of the City of Ocoee Recreation Department and later became the Director. He retired as recreation director in 2001 and pursued a teaching career at East Ridge High School in Clermont. He was a math teacher and coached boys baseball and girls softball during his tenure at East Ridge H. S. He retired from teaching in 2013.
 
During his free time he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an avid car enthusiast!

Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his 4 grandchildren, Nicholas Nordquist, Alexander Croeze, Vincent Nordquist and Ava Croeze.

Bruce is survived by his mother, Patricia Nordquist of Forest Lake, MN, his wife, Nancy Nordquist of Oakland, FL, his children Brad Nordquist (Carol) of Lithia, FL, Amy Croeze (Alex) of Mount Dora, FL, grandchildren Nicholas, Alexander, Vincent & Ava, his siblings Nancy Storelee, Steve Nordquist, Christine Feinstein, Julie Wrather & Tim Barnes.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roger Dean Nordquist.

Bruce and I were each other's 'Best Man' in our weddings. He was a great friend and is sorely missed by all.
