Condolences to Eugene's family and closest friends.  Regrettably, with time, we often lose contact with some of our most memorable childhood friends.  Gene was one of our Gladstone group that seemed like the prototype for The  Wonder Years ... freedom and innocence unbounded.  He was such a "force" with his infectious laugh and loving nature; always accepting, never unkind.  It was not a surprise when he went into education.  I'm sure he impacted many students with his positive energy.  I'm so glad that we actually got to visit and catch up a bit at the 50th Reunion.  So happy to see that Gene was still Gene.  Rest well, old friend!

We were friends through junior and senior HS and a few of the single years that followed before losing touch.  I really enjoyed seeing Gene at the 50th reunion.  He was one of the nicest, most sincere guys I've ever had the privilege of knowing.  A prince among men.  I'll miss knowing he's out there and I might just run into him.  My condolences to Sandy and family!

Patti, Deb Apman and I went to the 50th reunion together and as I was walking around Gene was being Gene and yelled "is that Georgi Smeed and Patti Stockman I see?" He had that big Gene smile he wore so well and it felt like no time passed let alone 50 years!! Gene was always kind and had that big grin on his face! My deepest sympathies to his family!
